1. Ready for a small routine
Audio: 0:00

Imagine you have finished using the toilet and are getting ready for a snack. This is a useful moment to wash your hands. We will practice a short routine. Clean hands can help protect us and other people, but nobody needs a perfect, germ-free body.
2. Begin with water and soap
Audio: 0:20

Wet your hands with clean running water, then add soap and rub it into a lather. Ask an adult for help reaching the sink or using the tap if you need it. Soap is a useful helper, not a magic shield that lasts forever.
3. Give the rubbing some time
Audio: 0:37

Keep rubbing for at least twenty seconds. Include the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. A timer can help you practice. You do not need to rub so hard that it hurts. Care is the goal, not a hand-scrubbing competition.
4. Finish the routine
Audio: 0:56

Rinse away the soap under clean running water. Then dry your hands using a clean towel or an air dryer. Our five steps belong together. Imagine finishing a drawing and forgetting the last line: sometimes a small final step makes the routine feel complete.
5. Pause and find the missing step
Audio: 1:17

A story character wets their hands, adds soap, and immediately rinses. Pause and name the step they missed. You can look at the picture for a clue. We are helping an imaginary character learn, not checking whether someone in our class is a good or bad person.
6. Check the story
Audio: 1:37

The character missed rubbing their soapy hands for at least twenty seconds. They should include that step before rinsing, then dry afterward. Practice explaining the sequence aloud. These are useful habits to learn gradually. Asking for help is part of learning, not a mistake.
7. A water surprise
Audio: 1:59

Here is a useful fact: clean running water can be warm or cold for handwashing. It does not need to be painfully hot. Let soap, rubbing, rinsing, and drying do their jobs. Ask an adult to help choose a comfortable water temperature.
8. Make room for help
Audio: 2:18

If there is no soap, clean water, or safe way to reach the sink, ask a trusted adult for help. Missing supplies are not a reason to tease anyone. Continue to the worksheet and put the steps in order. You never need to send pictures of your body.
