Start with clean running water, add soap and make a lather, then scrub gently for at least 20 seconds. Include palms, backs, finger spaces and under nails. Rinse and dry. Ask a trusted adult for help with supplies or an accessible routine.

Worked example

In a picture story, Nia rinses and then puts soap on her hands. The order needs repair: soap and the scrubbing step belong before rinsing. Answer about the story, not your own body or habits.

Five handwashing steps: wet, lather, scrub for at least 20 seconds, rinse, then dry.
