Compare one property at a time using matching units and the same measurement method. Lower one-way latency means less delay for that measurement. Greater bandwidth means greater data-carrying capacity, not a promise of actual throughput or total download time. A path may have lower delay but less capacity.
Worked example
Path X has 20 ms one-way latency and 10 Mb/s capacity. Path Y has 50 ms and 40 Mb/s. X has lower delay; Y has greater capacity. The delay difference is 50 - 20 = 30 ms. The capacity ratio is 40 / 10 = 4.
Separate Measurements
Path A has 18 milliseconds (ms) of one-way latency and 12 megabits per second (Mb/s) of bandwidth. Path B has 54 ms and 48 Mb/s. Both latency values use the same one-way method. The capacities are stated limits, not measured download speeds. These fictional paths require no network access or changes to settings.
