Learn the skill

Kidneys form urine. Ureters carry it to the bladder, which stores it. The urethra carries it from the bladder to outside. This is separate from blood returning through renal veins and from stool leaving the digestive tract.

Worked example

A sign says the bladder makes urine by filtering blood. Repair it: kidneys filter blood and form urine; the bladder stores urine. Name the job, not just the organ.

Urine route: kidneys form urine, ureters carry it to bladder, bladder stores it, and urethra carries it outside. Route sequence is not anatomical scale or position.
Use each tube's destination, not its similar-sounding name.

A new route puzzle

A museum route has K for a kidney, S for the storage organ, tube X connecting K to S, and tube Y connecting S to outside. The route carries urine, not blood. The boxes are equal sizes for clear labels; they are not anatomical measurements. No samples, body measurements or personal health information are needed.

Question 1 Which names belong to X and Y, in that order?
Question 2 Which organ and job belong at S?
Question 3 Which extra arrow belongs to the blood route, not this urine route?
Question 4 What can the equal-sized boxes establish?
Question 5 Which correction separates urine from stool?
