Use these meaning clues: bio connects with life; geo with Earth; tele with distance; micro with small things. First find a known part, then read the complete word and its sentence. Do not treat a matching string of letters as a definition. The notes below provide the whole-word meanings so you can check your reasoning.

Worked example

A microscope helps us examine very small details. Micro supplies small, but it does not tell us the instrument's color, price or physical size. The whole word tells us its purpose.

Bio links to life, geo to Earth, tele to distance, and micro to small things. Each has a labeled illustration rather than a color-only key.
A useful clue points toward a meaning. It does not replace the whole-word note.

Question 2 A geologist investigates Earth, including its rocks. Which meaning belongs to geo?
Question 3 A telescope helps someone view distant objects. Which clue comes from tele?
