In the invented data, 20 of 100 people in A and 10 of 100 in B had at least one event during the same period. Count each person only once. The absolute difference is 10 percentage points. Relative reduction from A is (20% - 10%)/20% = 50%. Observed differences alone do not prove cause.

Worked example

The statements 10 percentage points lower and 50 percent lower relative to A describe the same numbers differently. Neither promises a particular result for a student or proves a product works.

Invented study data show 20 events among 100 people in group A and 10 among 100 in group B over the same period. The difference is 10 percentage points; the relative reduction from A is 50 percent. This is not a product claim.
