Learn the skill

For a periodic signal, period is the reciprocal of frequency. In seconds, T = 1/f for f in Hz; multiply by 1000 for milliseconds. Period is one cycle's time, not the total time of many cycles.

Worked example

At 25 Hz, one period is 1/25 s = 0.04 s = 40 ms.

A schematic repeating wave shows 2 complete cycles about a center line. Period: time between matching phases. No physical length or time scale is assigned to this drawing.
