Mass and volume are different measurements. For these uniform samples, density = mass / volume. Keep grams and cubic centimeters consistent; a larger mass alone does not prove a greater density.

Worked example

A uniform sample with mass 24 g and volume 8 cubic cm has density 24 / 8 = 3 grams per cubic cm. A sample twice as large of the same material can have twice the mass but the same density.

Sample A has mass twenty-four grams and volume eight cubic centimeters. Sample B has mass forty-eight grams and volume sixteen cubic centimeters. Both ratios equal three grams per cubic centimeter.
Doubling both mass and volume leaves this ratio unchanged. Compare mass per cubic centimeter, not mass alone.
Question 1 A sample has mass 30 g and volume 10 cubic cm. What is its density in grams per cubic cm?
Question 2 A uniform sample has density 4 grams per cubic cm and volume 6 cubic cm. What is its mass in grams?
Question 3 Two uniform samples have masses and volumes 20 g / 5 cubic cm and 40 g / 10 cubic cm. How do their densities compare?
Question 4 A uniform sample has mass 36 g and density 6 grams per cubic cm. What is its volume in cubic cm?
Question 5 Which measurement pair is needed to calculate density?
