Input brings information in. Processing follows instructions. Output communicates a result. A touchscreen can receive touches and display pictures, so one device can do more than one job.

Worked example

A microphone captures sound (input), the CPU follows instructions (processing), and speakers play the result (output). Hearing it does not prove it is saved.

Microphone and keyboard supply input. CPU follows instructions. Screen and speakers provide output. Saving to SSD is separate. — These arrows show jobs, not physical wiring.
