Compare each animal with itself across conditions. A fairly stable temperature can fit internal heat regulation; a change with surroundings can fit reliance on external heat. A few readings alone do not prove how an animal regulates temperature.

Worked example

If an animal's recorded temperature changes from 24 C to 29 C, the increase is 29 - 24 = 5 C. This calculation describes a change; it does not identify the animal.

A Classroom Model

These invented readings illustrate two patterns, not real measurements or pet-care temperatures. In a cooler setting, Animal A is 22 C and Animal B is 38 C. In a warmer setting, Animal A is 32 C and Animal B is 38 C. Use only these supplied readings; do not heat, chill, or handle animals for this worksheet.
