Break a time interval at the next hour. Count minutes to that hour, then minutes after it. Add the two parts. One hour contains 60 minutes.

Worked example

From 2:40 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. is 20 minutes to 3:00 plus 15 more minutes, for a total of 35 minutes.

1. How many minutes pass from 9:10 a.m. to 9:35 a.m.?
