Start with six

Let's find six minus two. Minus means take away here. We start with six dots.

Take away two

Cross out two dots. Those are the dots we take away. Do not count the crossed out dots.

Count what is left

Count the dots that are not crossed out. One, two, three, four. Six minus two is four.

Your turn

Now start with five dots. Take away one. Pause here. How many dots will be left?

Four are left

Cross out one dot. Four dots are left. Five minus one is four. Start with the first number, take away, then count what is left.
