Look at these three

Here is a wooden block, a cup of water, and a balloon filled with air. Let us see how they are different.

A solid keeps its shape

The wooden block is a solid. Put it on a plate or in a box. It keeps its shape.

Water can change shape

Water is a liquid. It flows. Pour it from a cup into a bowl. The water changes shape to fit the bowl.

Air takes up space

Air is a gas. We cannot see the air, but it takes up space. Air fills this balloon.
