In, on, or under?

Where is the dot?

Let us find the dots. Look at box A, on the left. Its dot is inside the little outlined box. We say the dot is in the box.

On the top

In box B, the dot touches the top of the little box. It is on the box. Imagine it sitting there, waiting for a tiny picnic.

Your turn

Find box C in the middle. Look at its dot. Is the dot in the box, on the box, or under the box? Pause and tell your grown-up.

Below the box

The dot is below the little box. We say it is under the box. In, on, and under tell us where something is.

An upside-down surprise

Here is a fun fact. Turn a picture upside down, and something above can be below. A grown-up can draw a dot above a box on paper, then turn the paper to show you.
