For a north-up compass rose, clockwise quarter turns go north, east, south, west. A quarter turn is 90 degrees and a half turn is 180 degrees. Follow the named turn, not your left hand alone.

Worked example

Starting north, a clockwise quarter turn faces east. Two clockwise quarter turns face south.

North-up compass rose: north at the top, east right, south bottom and west left. North and south are opposite, as are east and west. Clockwise quarter turns follow N, E, S, W.
