An extended metaphor develops a comparison across several related details. For this exercise the chosen comparison is supplied; select a continuation within its imagery. Deliberate mixed metaphors can be artistic, but they are not the target of this particular brief.
Worked example
For a project compared to a voyage, charting a course extends the image. A sudden unrelated kitchen image would change the metaphor system.
