Using S3U Means Accepting These Terms
By using S3U, you agree to these Terms of Use and the S3U Privacy Policy. If you use S3U for a student, classroom, tutoring group, learning center, co-op, or organization, you confirm that you are allowed to create or manage the related student accounts.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use S3U.
What S3U Is
S3U is an online learning aid. It offers browser-based learning pages, games, worksheets, stories, daily checklists, progress records, subject grades, reports, forums, avatars, virtual pets, and virtual money tools.
S3U is not a school, accredited education program, emergency service, legal service, medical service, financial institution, payment card provider, credit provider, or real bank. S3U grades and scores are learning signals for students and adults; they are not official school transcripts unless a separate school or organization chooses to use them that way.
Accounts and Roles
S3U supports student, parent, teacher, and tutor accounts. Parents, teachers, and tutors may manage more than one student through groups. Student logins can be created without student email addresses or unnecessary personal information.
Users must keep login details private, use accurate role information, and only access accounts, groups, student records, reports, forums, and tools they are allowed to use. Adults are responsible for deciding which students they manage and for supervising student use when supervision is needed.
S3U uses browser localStorage for some login and convenience features. Users should sign out on shared devices and should not share devices or accounts in a way that lets someone access another student's information.
Student Safety and Shared Spaces
S3U may include forums, issue reports, group tools, chat planning, video-session planning, and other shared spaces. Students should use public names instead of real names in shared areas. Users must not post private personal information about themselves or others, including home addresses, phone numbers, private emails, school schedules, passwords, payment information, or sensitive personal details.
S3U may review, hide, remove, or limit access to content, accounts, groups, or forum activity when needed for safety, privacy, moderation, legal compliance, or service reliability.
Acceptable Use
Users may not use S3U to harass, threaten, impersonate others, collect personal information, post unlawful or harmful content, interfere with the service, scan or attack systems, overload pages or API routes, bypass permissions, change grades or rewards outside normal use, reverse engineer private service logic, or use another person's account without permission.
Adults may not use S3U to create misleading records about students or to access students they are not authorized to manage.
Private Messages
Private messaging is for learning-related communication between connected students, parents and instructors. Use only authorized group connections, review recipients before sending, and do not harass others or share information you are not allowed to disclose. All listed participants can read and reply; access depends on current connections. Blocking and archive controls do not recall delivered messages or erase saved copies. Messaging is not monitored as an emergency service; seek appropriate immediate help for urgent safety concerns.
Learning Activities, Scores, and Grades
Plus and Lifetime include required-weekday scheduling, image-based uploaded-work assessment and portfolios. Automated grading uses an external service only when a connected adult requests it and the service is configured. Daily usage limits apply. Automated assessments can contain mistakes; a connected adult must review and approve or correct an assessment before it changes subject grades. Review notes and correction history are retained. These are learning aids, not independent certification or a guarantee of accuracy.
Only share work you are authorized to disclose. Portfolio links allow anyone holding the link to view the selected work until expiry or revocation. Revoking a link cannot remove copies or prints already received. When Plus ends, schedules pause and external portfolio viewing is suspended; owners can still view or remove their saved work.
S3U activities are meant to help students learn through goals, practice, feedback, examples, hints, reflection, and review. Scores are not the only purpose of the activities.
S3U is built around absolute standards rather than bias, curves, or rankings against other students. A student's progress should be judged against the skill or subject goal being practiced. Adults should use S3U scores with judgment and should consider effort, context, growth, and outside learning needs.
Rewards, Pets, and S3U Bank
S3U may include virtual coins, avatars, clothing, hats, accessories, pets, pet care, checking, savings, and credit-card-style learning tools. These features are part of the learning experience and have no cash value.
The S3U Bank is a virtual educational tool. Virtual checking, virtual savings, daily compound savings interest, daily compound credit-card interest, balances, transactions, and debt are simulations only. They are not real accounts, real payment cards, real loans, real deposits, real interest, or real financial products.
Virtual pets may need care. A virtual pet may run away or become unavailable in the game if it is not treated well. This is part of the responsibility lesson, not a real-world penalty.
Payments and Add-ons
S3U does not require a credit card to begin using the service. Uploading schoolwork, artwork, or any other file requires a paid account. Paid access and add-ons are prepaid only, with no subscriptions or automatic renewals. Earned coins and the learning bank are not payment for paid access.
Prepaid add-ons may have their own limits, availability, refund rules, or expiration details shown at the time of purchase. Adults are responsible for purchases connected to their accounts.
Paid access is purchased for one selected student, not an entire group. Basic is $5 for one calendar month, Plus is $20 for one calendar month, and Lifetime is $299 once, in US dollars. Only plans marked available can be purchased. Monthly access begins when a completed payment is verified and does not renew automatically. Lifetime includes Plus features and has no scheduled expiration or recurring charge. File-size, storage, service availability and grading usage limits still apply. Prices include any applicable tax in the displayed total.
Review the selected student, available features, access period, price, and refund terms before continuing to PayPal or Stripe. Payment approval alone does not activate access. Sandbox/test payments do not activate real paid access. A full refund or payment reversal removes the access funded by that purchase. A dispute may suspend that access while being resolved. These changes do not by themselves remove permission to view, download, or remove previously saved artwork.
Google Login and Other Services
S3U may offer Google login for student, parent, teacher, and tutor accounts. Google login is optional for S3U unless a specific organization chooses to require it for users it manages. Users who sign in through Google must also follow Google's terms and policies.
S3U may use hosting, email, security, database, analytics, or other service providers to operate the site. S3U remains responsible for choosing providers that support the service's privacy and security direction.
Reports and Email
Parents, teachers, and tutors may choose daily or weekly emails about students they are authorized to manage. Reports may include checklist progress, scores, grades, subject time, activity summaries, chores, tasks, and learning recommendations.
Adults should keep report emails private and should not forward student information to people who are not allowed to see it.
Content and Ownership
S3U owns or licenses the site design, code, learning activity structure, icons, graphics, writing, templates, and other service content. Users may use S3U content through the service for personal, family, classroom, tutoring, or authorized learning use.
Users keep responsibility for content they submit, such as forum posts, issue reports, group names, student public names, and written answers. By submitting content, users allow S3U to store, display, moderate, and process it as needed to provide the service.
Availability and Changes
S3U may change, add, pause, or remove features as the service grows. S3U may also limit or suspend access for maintenance, security, abuse prevention, legal reasons, or technical problems.
S3U will try to keep learning records reliable, but no online service can promise uninterrupted access or perfect data availability.
Disclaimers and Limits
S3U is provided as a learning aid. To the extent allowed by law, S3U is provided without warranties of any kind, including promises that it will meet every educational need, be error-free, or always be available.
To the extent allowed by law, S3U is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages related to use of the service. Some places do not allow certain limits, so these limits may not apply to every user.
Ending Use
Users may stop using S3U at any time. Authorized adults may request account or student record deletion through the Contact page. S3U may suspend or end access if an account breaks these terms, creates risk for students or other users, or threatens the service.
Changes to These Terms
S3U may update these terms as the service changes. If a change is important, S3U will update the date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice in the product or by email when appropriate. Continued use after updated terms are posted means the updated terms apply.
